Need a licensed plumber or electrician?

Plumbing and electrical are the two trades where Minnesota law requires a licensed contractor on almost every job, because water and wiring failures burn down houses and flood basements. Tell us what happened; we route your request only to contractors holding a current state license with no enforcement flag in the nightly DLI file.

While you wait: plumbing emergencies

Find your main water shutoff (usually where the water line enters the basement, near the meter) and close it. For a water heater leak, also close the cold-water valve on top of the tank.

While you wait: electrical emergencies

If you smell burning or see scorching at an outlet or the panel, flip the affected breaker off. If anything is smoking, leave and call 911 first. Never work inside the panel yourself.

Prefer to pick your own? Browse every licensed electrical contractor and licensed plumbing contractor in the state, and verify whoever you call in the license checker first.
